I finished a training class today: Postscript Programming for Engineers. John Deubert of Acumen Training taught the one-week class here at Dow Jones and did a great job. He is an excellent instructor.
I did the Belmar 5 Mile Run on July 13, 2002. Thanks to Nora who told me about this race and encouraged me to sign up.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosted a 170/50/25 mile bike tour event on May 18, 2002 to help raise money to fight multiple sclerosis. I completed the 50 mile “Coast the Coast” tour. It was pouring rain most of the morning and fierce Atlantic Ocean winds made it more of a challenge.
I did the 5K Race for the Cure at Bristol Meyers Squibb campus in Lawrenceville, NJ October 28, 2001.
I did another triathlon at Cooper River Park the weekend after the first week of class Sept 1, 2001.
I finished my first triathalon, “Do the Tri, Try the Du” on July 14, 2001 at Cooper River Park, NJ. The course was fast and flat – great for a first triathalon. But that doesn’t mean it was easy. It was only a sprint triathlon, but when I finally got to the run, I had to fight to keep going.
I attended a great 2-day class on Perl, taught by Randal Schwartz, the author of Learning Perl. The training class was hosted by Dow Jones on March 27th and March 28th. I thought I knew perl pretty well, but Randal showed us some amazing things you can do with perl. His training materials alone are worth their weight in gold. Excellent class!
